About Us
Father Bradley Shelter History and Mission
In 1998, Father Bradley, Sister Pauletta Kane, and Mary Ann Thrasher noticed a growing need in our community for a safe haven for the homeless. As the need for shelter became more abundantly clear, Father Bradley’s vision grew. As a result, in 2001 the Shelter for Women and Children opened its bright red door and welcomed homeless women and children throughout the Tri-State area. In honor of Father Bradley’s hard work and compassion the Shelter was rededicated in November 2013. For his vision and relentless drive to help homeless women and children in need, the shelter is now called “Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children.”
Since its opening in 2001, the Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children has provided safe haven and services to more than 1,900 women and children. Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children works to provide homeless women and children with the tools and knowledge to improve their self-sufficiency and well-being. Our mission is to provide safe shelter, encourage self-sufficiency with the promotion of self-improvement through education. Our program decreases the number of women and children walking the streets, sleeping in cars, or staying in unsafe and congested dwellings. Our program addresses their basic needs along with the underlying matters that contributed to their homelessness.
